湖南外国语职业学院前身为1993年成立的浏阳外国语学校，1997年更名为浏阳外国语进修学院，2006年升格为普通高等职业学校并启用现名。学校拥有长沙（望城区丁字湾街道）和浏阳两个校区，总占地1061亩，设8个二级学院，现有教职员工近千人，学生15000余人，教学设施齐备，是一所现代化、智慧化、生态化校园。

Hunan International Economics University originated from Liuyang Foreign Language School founded in 1993. It was renamed Liuyang Foreign Language College in 1997 and upgraded to a regular higher vocational college in 2006 with its current name. The university has two campuses in Changsha (Dingziwan Street, Wangcheng District) and Liuyang, covering a total area of 1061 mu. It has 8 secondary colleges, nearly 1,000 faculty members and over 15,000 students, with complete teaching facilities, making it a modern, intelligent and ecological campus.

学校坚持“职业化、市场化、国际化”办学道路，构建了以应用外语专业群为主体，涉外商贸服务、涉外护理康养专业群为两翼的“一体两翼”专业布局，创新“三双”（人文素养与职业素养兼备、语言技能与专业技能兼通、学历证书与职业资格证书兼有）人才培养体系。建校32年来，累计培养5万余名外语特色应用技能型人才，获评民政部“5A”级办学单位、湖南省“十佳民办高校”，2016年入选高等职业院校国际影响力排行榜50强。

Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "professionalization, marketization and internationalization", the university has constructed a "one body and two wings" professional layout with applied foreign language specialty group as the main body, and foreign-related business services and foreign-related nursing and health care specialty groups as the two wings. It has innovated the "Three Doubles" talent training system (both humanistic literacy and professional literacy, both language skills and professional skills, both academic certificates and vocational qualification certificates). Over the past 32 years since its establishment, it has cultivated more than 50,000 application-oriented skilled talents with foreign language characteristics, and has been awarded as a "5A" level school-running unit by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and a "Top Ten Private Universities" in Hunan Province. In 2016, it was selected into the top 50 list of international influence of higher vocational colleges.

学校教学资源丰富，拥有省级一流特色专业群1个、精品专业2个，建有11个“1+X”证书制度试点项目，与华为、万达集团等企业建立深度校企合作。近年来教师承担省级以上科研项目130项，学生获省级以上技能竞赛奖项147项，毕业生就业率持续保持在90%以上，是中国教育国际交流协会常务理事单位、世界职业教育院校联盟会员单位。

The university is rich in teaching resources, with 1 provincial first-class characteristic specialty group and 2 excellent specialties. It has built 11 "1+X" certificate system pilot projects and established in-depth school-enterprise cooperation with enterprises such as Huawei and Wanda Group. In recent years, teachers have undertaken 130 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, students have won 147 awards in skill competitions at or above the provincial level, and the employment rate of graduates has remained above 90%. It is an executive director unit of China Education Association for International Exchange and a member unit of World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics.
