湖南信息职业技术学院创建于1975年，是长沙市人民政府直属的公办高职院校，地处长沙市望城区，毗邻石长铁路、岳临高速、绕城高速、黄桥大道、长株潭轨道交通枢纽和长沙高铁西站、地铁4号线，经雷锋大道、金星大道直达长沙市核心区，位置优越，交通便捷，风景优美，环境宜人。学校以“服务国家战略，培养技术英才”为办学使命，以打造“信息技术应用先锋，智能制造人才培育基地”为行为导向，为信息产业和地方经济的发展培养了一大批信息类技能型专门人才，被誉为湖南信息技术人才的“黄埔军校”和“信息湘军”。

Hunan College of Information was founded in 1975 and is a public vocational college directly under the Changsha Municipal People's Government. It is located in Wangcheng District, Changsha City, adjacent to the Shichang Railway, Yuelin Expressway, Ring Expressway, Huangqiao Avenue, Changzhutan Rail Transit Hub, Changsha High-speed Railway West Station, and Metro Line 4. It directly reaches the core area of Changsha City via Leifeng Avenue and Jinxing Avenue, with an superior location, convenient transportation, beautiful scenery and pleasant environment. With the mission of "serving national strategies and cultivating technical talents" and the orientation of building "a pioneer in information technology application and a base for cultivating intelligent manufacturing talents", the school has cultivated a large number of information-based skilled professionals for the development of the information industry and local economy, and is known as the "Whampoa Military Academy" for information technology talents in Hunan and "Information Xiang Army".

学校现有全日制在校生8000余人，教师队伍实力雄厚，副教授以上高级职称220人、硕士学位以上教师154人、教学名师74人，设有电子工程学院、机电工程学院、软件学院、网络空间安全学院、经济管理学院、文化传播与艺术设计学院等教学院系，开设了电子信息工程技术、工业机器人技术、软件技术、计算机网络技术、电子商务等28个专业，其中电子信息工程技术专业为湖南省示范特色专业，软件技术和电气自动化技术为湖南省特色专业，应用电子技术、电子信息工程技术、计算机辅助设计与制造、软件技术、计算机网络技术等5个专业为湖南省精品专业。

The school currently has more than 8,000 full-time students and a strong teaching staff, including 220 teachers with senior professional titles above associate professor, 154 teachers with master's degrees or above, and 74 teaching masters. It has teaching departments such as the School of Electronic Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Software, School of Cyberspace Security, School of Economics and Management, School of Cultural Communication and Art Design, offering 28 majors including Electronic Information Engineering Technology, Industrial Robot Technology, Software Technology, Computer Network Technology, and E-commerce. Among them, Electronic Information Engineering Technology is a demonstration characteristic major in Hunan Province, Software Technology and Electrical Automation Technology are characteristic majors in Hunan Province, and 5 majors including Applied Electronic Technology, Electronic Information Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, Software Technology, and Computer Network Technology are excellent majors in Hunan Province.

学校拥有中央财政支持的计算机应用与软件技术专业实习实训基地、省级应用电子技术重点实习实训基地、湖南省汽车制造高级技能人才培育培训基地、湖南省中职教师培训基地、湖南省服务外包人才培训基地、长沙国家软件产业基地--软件外包人才培育基地、国家职业技能鉴定所、工业和信息化部电子行业第六鉴定站。学校秉承“天容万物、海纳百川；德系于爱、行胜于言；让每位教师成为处理或解决实际问题的大师、让每位学生成为处理或解决实际问题的高手”的办学理念，注重学生素养的提升和个人潜能的发挥，大力推行“双元制”校企合作和校本双元人才培育模式，已成为培育信息化、新型工业化高素质技能型人才的摇篮。
