湖南有色金属职业技术学院成立于2011年3月，是湖南省人民政府举办、湖南省教育厅主管的全日制普通高等学校，坐落于长株潭融城核心区株洲（湖南）职教城。学校前身为1953年创办的中南分局技工学校，2011年整合湖南有色金属行业教育资源升格为高职院校，是中国有色金属工业高技能人才培养基地、全国职工职业技能实训基地、中南有色金属职业教育集团牵头单位，先后获评湖南省文明高等学校、省平安高校、省就业创业工作一把手工程优秀单位等荣誉。

Hunan Non-ferrous Metals Vocational and Technical College was founded in March 2011. It is a full-time public higher education institution sponsored by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and administered by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. Located in Zhuzhou (Hunan) Vocational Education City, the core area of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban integration, the college traces its roots to the Central South Branch Technical School established in 1953 under the Central People's Government Non-ferrous Metals Administration. In 2011, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college by integrating educational resources of Hunan's non-ferrous metals industry. It serves as a high-skilled talent training base for China's non-ferrous metals industry, a national vocational skills training base for workers, and the leading unit of the Central South Non-ferrous Metals Vocational Education Group. It has been awarded honors such as "Hunan Civilized College", "Hunan Safe College", and "Excellent Unit for Employment and Entrepreneurship Work of Hunan Provincial Colleges".

学校占地300余亩，总建筑面积22万平方米，教学实验实训设备总值4000余万元，建有65个教学实验室和40余个校外实训基地，与中国铝业、江西铜业等200多家企业建立校企合作关系。设有资源环境系、冶金材料系等7个教学系部，开设矿物加工技术、储能材料技术等20个专业，形成以材料工程技术为省一流特色专业群的5大专业集群，现有教职工400余人，在校生8900余人，双师素质教师占比超40%，近三年毕业生就业率保持90%以上，雇主满意度达97%。

Covering an area of over 300 mu (20 hectares) with a total construction area of 220,000 square meters, the college has teaching and training equipment worth more than 40 million yuan. It houses 65 teaching laboratories and over 40 off-campus training bases, establishing school-enterprise cooperation with more than 200 enterprises including Aluminum Corporation of China and Jiangxi Copper Corporation. The college comprises 7 teaching departments including the Department of Resource Environment and the Department of Metallurgical Materials, offering 20 majors such as Mineral Processing Technology and Energy Storage Materials Technology. It has developed 5 professional clusters with Materials Engineering Technology as a provincial first-class characteristic professional group. The college employs over 400 faculty members, with more than 40% being "double-qualified" teachers, and enrolls over 8,900 students. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 90% in recent three years, with employer satisfaction reaching 97%.

作为教育部首批职业教育"走出去"试点院校，学校牵头组建中南有色金属职教集团，主导制定赞比亚职业教育国家专业标准，2019年成立中国-赞比亚职业技术学院矿业工程学院，成为我国高职院校海外独立举办学历教育的先行者，形成"立足有色、服务产业、产教融合、国际拓展"的办学特色。

As one of the first pilot colleges for vocational education "going global" approved by the Ministry of Education, the college leads the Central South Non-ferrous Metals Vocational Education Group and has formulated national vocational education standards for Zambia. In 2019, it established the Mining Engineering College of China-Zambia Vocational and Technical College, pioneering overseas academic education independently run by Chinese vocational colleges. It has formed a distinctive school-running philosophy characterized by "rooted in non-ferrous metals industry, serving industrial development, integrating production and education, and expanding internationally".
