河南理工大学是中国第一所矿业高等学府，始建于1909年，历经焦作路矿学堂、焦作工学院等发展阶段，2004年更名为河南理工大学。学校以理工为主，工科优势突出，矿业工程、安全科学与工程等学科实力雄厚，形成了多学科协调发展的学科专业体系。
