Hunan University is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city in China. It is a high-level comprehensive university with a long history, complete disciplines, strong faculty, and domestic and international reputation. The university originated from Yuelu Academy founded in 976 AD. After the changes of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, it has always maintained the continuity of cultural education. It was restructured into Hunan Higher School in 1903, named Hunan University in 1926, and officially named so since 1950.
