内蒙古科技大学包头医学院前身为1958年成立的包头医学院，是新中国在边疆民族地区较早建立的本科高等医学院校，建校当年即招收五年制临床医学专业本科生。2003年与包头钢铁学院、包头师范学院合并组建内蒙古科技大学，2005年经自治区政府批准成为独立法人办学实体，冠名为内蒙古科技大学包头医学院。学校坐落于“草原钢城”“稀土之都”包头市，现有东河主校区、青山校区和东河东校区三个校区，占地面积76万余平方米，建筑面积37万余平方米。

Baotou Medical College of Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, formerly Baotou Medical College founded in 1958, is one of the earliest undergraduate medical institutions established in border ethnic regions of New China. It enrolled five-year clinical medicine undergraduates in the founding year. In 2003, it merged with Baotou Iron and Steel Institute and Baotou Normal College to form Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology. In 2005, approved by the Autonomous Region Government, it became an independent legal entity named Baotou Medical College of Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology. Located in Baotou City, known as "Grassland Steel City" and "Rare Earth Capital", the university has three campuses: Donghe Main Campus, Qingshan Campus and Donghe East Campus, covering an area of over 760,000 square meters with a building area of over 370,000 square meters.

经过60余年发展，学校形成以医学为主，理学、法学、教育学、文学、管理学、工学协调发展的学科专业布局，构建了全日制本科教育、研究生教育、继续教育多层次办学体系。现有17个教学单位，28个本科专业，其中国家级一流专业建设点1个、特色专业建设点1个，自治区级一流专业建设点10个。拥有公共卫生与预防医学一级学科博士学位授权点，5个一级学科硕士学位授权点及6个硕士专业学位授权点，2020年通过教育部临床医学专业认证。

After more than 60 years of development, the university has formed a disciplinary layout with medicine as the main focus, coordinated by science, law, education, literature, management and engineering, and established a multi-level education system including full-time undergraduate education, postgraduate education and continuing education. It has 17 teaching units and 28 undergraduate programs, including 1 national first-class professional construction site, 1 national characteristic professional construction site, and 10 autonomous region-level first-class professional construction sites. It has a first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point in Public Health and Preventive Medicine, 5 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points and 6 professional master's degree authorization points, and passed the Ministry of Education's clinical medicine professional certification in 2020.

学校现有全日制在校生11822人，其中博硕士研究生1653人。教职工950人，专任教师629人，副高级以上职称占比46.58%，博士硕士学历占比85.85%。拥有国家级一流本科课程5门，自治区级实验教学示范中心5个，直属附属三级甲等综合医院2所。近五年获批国家级、省部级科研项目800余项，获国家及自治区级科技奖励13项，授权专利247项，为边疆地区医疗卫生事业发展培养了7万余名专业人才。

The university currently has 11,822 full-time students, including 1,653 doctoral and master's students. There are 950 faculty members, 629 full-time teachers, with 46.58% having associate senior titles or above, and 85.85% having doctoral or master's degrees. It has 5 national first-class undergraduate courses, 5 autonomous region-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 2 directly affiliated tertiary grade A general hospitals. In the past five years, it has obtained more than 800 national and ministerial-level scientific research projects, 13 national and autonomous region-level scientific and technological awards, and 247 authorized patents, cultivating more than 70,000 professionals for the development of medical and health undertakings in border areas.
