江西水利电力大学是一所公办理工类普通本科院校，前身为1958年创建的江西水利电力学院，历经多次更名与发展，2025年6月经教育部批准由南昌工程学院正式更名而来。学校现为江西省人民政府与水利部共建高校，是国务院批准的硕士和学士学位授予单位，江西省“十四五”博士学位授予单位立项建设单位，国家“卓越工程师教育培养计划”高校，以工学为主，涵盖管理学、理学、农学、文学、经济学、艺术学等多学科协调发展，水利电力特色鲜明。

Jiangxi University of Water Resources and Electric Power is a public general undergraduate institution of science and engineering. Its predecessor, Jiangxi Institute of Water Resources and Electric Power, was founded in 1958. After several renamings and developments, it was officially renamed from Nanchang Institute of Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education in June 2025. Currently, the university is a joint institution of the People's Government of Jiangxi Province and the Ministry of Water Resources, an institution authorized by the State Council to confer master's and bachelor's degrees, a proposed doctoral degree-granting unit in Jiangxi Province's "14th Five-Year Plan", and a university under the "National Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program". It mainly focuses on engineering and coordinatedly develops multiple disciplines including management, science, agriculture, literature, economics, and art, with distinct characteristics in water resources and electric power.

学校坐落于江西省南昌市，拥有瑶湖和彭桥两个校区，校园土地面积130.44万平方米，校舍建筑面积67.06万平方米，全日制在校生规模暂定为21000人。学校现有教职工1600余人，其中专任教师1192人，具有高级专业技术职务教师459人，具有博士学位教师488人，师资力量雄厚。学校坚持立德树人根本任务，深化产教融合，与行业龙头企业合作开设“企业定制班”，创新“五共”人才培养模式，重点培养服务国家和区域水利电力行业发展的高素质专门人才。

Located in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, the university has two campuses: Yaohu and Pengqiao, covering a campus land area of 1.3044 million square meters and a school building area of 670,600 square meters, with a tentative full-time student enrollment of 21,000. The university currently has more than 1,600 faculty members, including 1,192 full-time teachers, 459 with senior professional titles, and 488 with doctoral degrees, boasting a strong faculty. Adhering to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, the university deepens industry-education integration, cooperates with leading enterprises in the industry to set up "enterprise customized classes", innovates the "five co-building" talent training model, and focuses on cultivating high-quality professionals serving the development of national and regional water resources and electric power industries.
