晋中学院前身是1958年建校的晋中师范专科学校，2004年5月经教育部批准，在原晋中师范高等专科学校、晋中教育学院、晋中职工大学三校合并基础上，建立省属全日制本科院校。学校坐落于三晋腹地、晋商故里——山西省晋中市，是首批入驻省高校新校园区的10所院校之一。

Jinzhong University originated from Jinzhong Normal College founded in 1958. With the approval of the Ministry of Education in May 2004, it was established as a provincial full-time undergraduate university on the basis of the merger of the former Jinzhong Normal College, Jinzhong Institute of Education, and Jinzhong Vocational University. Located in Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province, the hinterland of the three Jin Dynasties and the hometown of Jin merchants, the university is one of the first 10 institutions to settle in the new campus area of provincial universities.

学校占地面积58.8万平方米，建筑面积39.4万平方米，教学仪器设备总价值2.06亿余元，图书馆藏书151.9万余册，纸质期刊541种，电子图书143.3万余册。设22个教学单位，本科专业53个，面向全国24个省、自治区、直辖市招生，全日制本科学生19500余名，成人教育学员1000余名。现有在职教职工1000余人，其中教授、副教授340余人，博士研究生300余人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴1人，省部级领军人才1人，拥有一批知名学者、中青年学术带头人和骨干教师。

The university covers an area of 588,000 square meters with a building area of 394,000 square meters. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment is more than 206 million yuan. The library has a collection of over 1.519 million books, 541 kinds of paper journals, and more than 1.433 million e-books. It has 22 teaching units and 53 undergraduate majors, enrolling students from 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government. There are more than 19,500 full-time undergraduate students and over 1,000 adult education students. Currently, there are more than 1,000 in-service faculty and staff, including over 340 professors and associate professors, more than 300 doctoral students, 1 person enjoying the special government allowance of the State Council, and 1 provincial-level leading talent, with a group of renowned scholars, young and middle-aged academic leaders, and backbone teachers.
