Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) was established on August 3, 2001, under a decree of the Government of Kazakhstan. Co-founded by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Education and Science (representing the Kazakh side) in collaboration with the British Embassy in Kazakhstan and the British Council, the university returned to state ownership in February 2025 and is now administered by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As Kazakhstan's first international technical university, it focuses on engineering, energy science, and business, aiming to cultivate application-oriented talents with a global perspective.
