Kuwait University is the first public research university in Kuwait, affiliated with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Kuwait, and operated under the supervision of the University Council. Established in October 1966 and officially opened in November of the same year, it initially comprised the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, and College of Women, with a total of 418 students and 31 faculty members. As a core institution of higher education in Kuwait, the university is committed to providing quality education, promoting knowledge innovation and dissemination, and cultivating talents to meet the needs of social development.

经过多年发展，科威特大学已形成多学科综合性办学格局。截至2013年，学校拥有16个理工和人文学院，包括科学学院、法学院、医学院、工程与石油学院、企业管理学院等，学生规模约4万人，教职员工1450人。该校在工程、医学、石油科学等领域具有区域影响力，同时注重伊斯兰研究与现代学科的融合，为科威特及海湾地区培养了大批专业人才。

After years of development, Kuwait University has formed a multidisciplinary and comprehensive educational structure. As of 2013, the university has 16 colleges covering science, engineering, and humanities, including the College of Science, College of Law, College of Medicine, College of Engineering and Petroleum, and College of Business Administration, with approximately 40,000 students and 1,450 faculty members. The university has regional influence in fields such as engineering, medicine, and petroleum science, while also emphasizing the integration of Islamic studies with modern disciplines, cultivating a large number of professionals for Kuwait and the Gulf region.

在国际化方面，科威特大学积极推进教育合作与文化交流。2024年5月，该校与中国教育部中外语言交流合作中心签署协议，建立海湾地区首家中文智慧教室，成为中阿语言文化交流的重要平台。学校授课语言以阿拉伯语为主，部分研究生课程提供英语教学，吸引了来自不同国家的学生，逐步提升其在中东高等教育领域的地位。

In terms of internationalization, Kuwait University actively promotes educational cooperation and cultural exchanges. In May 2024, the university signed an agreement with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of China's Ministry of Education to establish the first Chinese Smart Classroom in the Gulf region, becoming an important platform for China-Arab language and cultural exchanges. The university mainly uses Arabic as the teaching language, with some graduate courses offered in English, attracting students from different countries and gradually enhancing its position in higher education in the Middle East.
