Founded in 1951, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is a non-profit public higher education institution in Ghana. Its main campus is located in the urban setting of Kumasi (population range 1,000,000-5,000,000) in the Ashanti Region, with branch campuses in Sunyani and Accra. Officially recognized by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, KNUST is one of the largest universities in Ghana, with an enrollment of over 50,000 students and a coeducational system.

It has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic records and grades, with an acceptance rate ranging from 30% to 39%, making it a highly competitive institution. Additionally, KNUST provides numerous academic and non-academic facilities and services to students, including a library, housing, sports facilities, financial aids and scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.
