聊城大学坐落于享有“江北水城、运河古都”美誉的国家历史文化名城——山东省聊城市。学校前身是1974年11月建立的山东师范学院聊城分院，1981年7月国务院批准设立聊城师范学院，2002年2月经教育部同意更名为聊城大学，是硕士学位研究生培养和推免单位、山东省应用型本科高校建设单位，与海内外诸多高校合作培养博士学位研究生。

Liaocheng University is located in Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, a national historical and cultural city known as the "Water City in the North of the Yangtze River and the Ancient Capital of the Grand Canal". The university's predecessor was Liaocheng Branch of Shandong Normal College, established in November 1974. In July 1981, with the approval of the State Council, it was renamed Liaocheng Normal College. In February 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Liaocheng University. It is a postgraduate training and recommendation unit for master's degrees, a construction unit for applied undergraduate universities in Shandong Province, and cooperates with many universities at home and abroad to cultivate doctoral students.

学校秉承“敬业、博学、求实、创新”的校训，发扬“崇教、尚学、敦厚、奋进”的聊大精神，为国家建设和经济社会发展培养了大批优秀人才，24万余名校友遍布海内外。现设23个学院，26个硕士学位授权一级学科，21个硕士专业学位类别，74个本科招生专业，学科专业涵盖哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、农学、管理学、艺术学、医学、交叉学科等13大学科门类。化学、工程学、材料科学、计算机科学、农业科学入围ESI全球排名前1%。

Adhering to the school motto of "Dedication, Erudition, Realism, Innovation" and carrying forward the spirit of "Respecting Education, Valuing Learning, Sincerity, and Endeavor", the university has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents for national construction and economic and social development, with more than 240,000 alumni spread at home and abroad. It now has 23 colleges, 26 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, 21 types of master's professional degrees, and 74 undergraduate enrollment majors. The disciplines cover 13 categories including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management, art, medicine, and interdisciplinary subjects. Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, and Agricultural Science have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings.

学校现有全日制在校本科生、研究生、留学生3.4万余人，具有博士学位教师1200余人，正高级职称人员232人，副高级职称人员816人。拥有国家级特色专业4个，国家一流本科专业建设点9个，通过教育部师范类专业认证专业8个，国家级一流本科课程、国家级精品课程等17门。坚持开放式办学理念，与20多个国家和地区的100多所高校开展合作，共建2所孔子学院，校园占地面积近3000亩，环境优雅，享有“学在聊大”的美誉。

The university currently has more than 34,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates, and international students, more than 1,200 teachers with doctoral degrees, 232 with senior professional titles, and 816 with associate senior professional titles. It has 4 national characteristic majors, 9 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 8 majors accredited by the Ministry of Education's normal majors, and 17 national first-class undergraduate courses and national excellent courses. Adhering to the concept of open education, it has carried out cooperation with more than 100 universities in more than 20 countries and regions, and jointly established 2 Confucius Institutes.
