连云港师范学院坐落于全国首批沿海开放城市、长三角北翼重要港口城市——江苏连云港，是一所公办师范类普通本科院校。学校前身为始建于1914年的江苏省立第八师范学校，后历经江苏省东海师范学校、海州师范学校、连云港师范高等专科学校（由原海州师范学校、连云港教育学院、连云港师范学校、连云港市经济管理干部中等专业学校合并组建）等重要发展时期，2025年经教育部批准为全日制普通本科院校。

Lianyungang Normal University is located in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, one of the first coastal open cities in China and an important port city on the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta. It is a public normal undergraduate college. The university traces its roots back to Jiangsu Provincial No.8 Normal School founded in 1914, and has gone through important development stages such as Jiangsu Donghai Normal School, Haizhou Normal School, and Lianyungang Normal College (merged by the former Haizhou Normal School, Lianyungang Institute of Education, Lianyungang Normal School, and Lianyungang Economic Management Cadre Secondary Professional School). In 2025, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a full-time ordinary undergraduate university.

学校办学历史悠久，文化底蕴深厚，曾是海赣沭灌地区的最高学府，改革开放以来成为连云港乃至苏北地区名副其实的基础教育教师摇篮，1991年被国家教委表彰为“为基础教育培养合格师资、方向明确、成绩显著的全国优秀师范院校”。现占地近1000亩，有全日制在校生约8400人，设10个二级学院、38个专业，形成以学前教育、小学教育为主要特色，以文化艺术、公共管理与服务为区域性优势专业群的专业格局，学前教育、美术教育专业被教育部认定为高等职业教育创新发展行动计划骨干专业。

With a long history and profound cultural heritage, the university was once the highest institution of learning in the Haigan Shuguan area. Since the reform and opening up, it has become a veritable cradle of basic education teachers in Lianyungang and even northern Jiangsu. In 1991, it was commended by the State Education Commission as an "outstanding national normal college with clear direction and remarkable achievements in cultivating qualified teachers for basic education". Currently covering an area of nearly 1000 mu, it has about 8400 full-time students and 10 secondary colleges offering 38 majors. It has formed a professional pattern featuring preschool education and primary education as main characteristics, and cultural art, public management and service as regional advantageous professional groups. Preschool education and art education majors have been recognized by the Ministry of Education as key majors in the Innovation and Development Action Plan for Higher Vocational Education.
