中国戏曲学院是新中国成立的第一所戏曲学校，也是迄今为止全国唯一一所以戏曲教育和研究为特色的综合性高等学府。学校成立于1950年，前身为中央人民政府文化部戏曲改进局戏曲实验学校，1955年更名为中国戏曲学校，1978年升格为中国戏曲学院，2000年划转北京市人民政府管理。学校以“德艺双馨、继往开来”为校训，致力于培养戏曲艺术人才，推动戏曲文化的传承与创新。

The National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts is the first opera school established in the People's Republic of China and the only comprehensive institution of higher learning in the country featuring opera education and research to date. Founded in 1950, its predecessor was the Opera Experimental School of the Opera Improvement Bureau of the Ministry of Culture of the Central People's Government. It was renamed the National Opera School in 1955, upgraded to the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in 1978, and transferred to the management of the Beijing Municipal People's Government in 2000. With the school motto of "Excellence in Virtue and Art, Carrying Forward the Past and Forging Ahead", the academy is committed to cultivating opera art talents and promoting the inheritance and innovation of opera culture.

The academy has multiple teaching units such as the Department of Peking Opera, Department of Performance, Department of Directing, Department of Music, Department of Opera Literature, Department of Stage Art, Department of New Media Art, and Department of International Cultural Exchange, covering various professional directions including opera performance, opera directing, opera music, opera literature, and stage art design. The academy boasts a strong faculty, with a group of renowned artists and scholars in the domestic and international opera circles, providing students with high-level professional education.
