南京农业大学是一所以农业和生命科学为优势，农、理、经、管、工、文、法学多学科协调发展的全国重点大学，是国家“双一流”建设高校和“211工程”重点建设高校。学校坐落于钟灵毓秀、虎踞龙蟠的古都南京，拥有卫岗校区、浦口校区和白马教学科研基地，总面积9平方公里，建筑面积74万平方米。

Nanjing Agricultural University is a national key university with strengths in agriculture and life sciences, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines including agriculture, science, economics, management, engineering, liberal arts, and law. It is a "Double First-Class" construction university and a key university under the "211 Project". Located in the ancient capital of Nanjing, which is endowed with beautiful scenery and a majestic terrain, the university has Weigang Campus, Pukou Campus, and Baima Teaching and Research Base, covering a total area of 9 square kilometers with a building area of 740,000 square meters.

学校前身可溯源至1902年三江师范学堂农业博物科和1914年金陵大学农科。1952年全国院系调整时，以金陵大学农学院、南京大学农学院为主体，以及浙江大学农学院部分系科，合并成立南京农学院。1963年被确定为全国重点大学。1984年更名为南京农业大学。1999年进入国家“211工程”重点建设行列。2017年入选国家“双一流”建设高校。

The predecessor of the university can be traced back to the Agricultural Museum Department of Sanjiang Normal School in 1902 and the Agricultural Department of University of Nanking in 1914. During the national department adjustment in 1952, Nanjing Agricultural College was established by merging the农学院 of University of Nanking, the农学院 of Nanjing University as the main body, and some departments of the农学院 of Zhejiang University. In 1963, it was identified as a national key university. In 1984, it was renamed Nanjing Agricultural University. In 1999, it entered the ranks of key construction universities under the national "211 Project". In 2017, it was selected as a national "Double First-Class" construction university.

学校学科实力雄厚，现有作物学、农业资源与环境、植物保护、兽医学、食品科学与工程等5个学科入选国家“双一流”建设学科。在第四轮全国学科评估中，农业资源与环境、植物保护、畜牧学、兽医学、草学等5个学科获评A类。学校拥有一级学科国家重点学科4个，二级学科国家重点学科3个，国家重点（培育）学科1个。

The university has strong disciplinary strength, with 5 disciplines including Crop Science, Agricultural Resources and Environment, Plant Protection, Veterinary Medicine, and Food Science and Engineering selected into the national "Double First-Class" construction disciplines. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, 5 disciplines such as Agricultural Resources and Environment, Plant Protection, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine, and Grass Science were rated as Class A. The university has 4 first-level national key disciplines, 3 second-level national key disciplines, and 1 national key (cultivation) discipline.

学校始终坚持立德树人根本任务，着力培养知农爱农、全面发展的高素质人才。现有全日制本科生17000余人，研究生13000余人，其中博士生3000余人。学校设有20个学院（部），70个本科专业，涵盖农、理、经、管、工、文、法等学科门类。拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点42个，国家级特色专业11个，省级一流本科专业建设点14个。

The university always adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and talents, and strives to cultivate high-quality talents who understand and love agriculture and develop in an all-round way. Currently, it has over 17,000 full-time undergraduates and over 13,000 postgraduates, including over 3,000 doctoral students. The university has 20 colleges (departments) and 70 undergraduate majors, covering disciplines such as agriculture, science, economics, management, engineering, liberal arts, and law. It has 42 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 11 national-level characteristic majors, and 14 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites.
