华北科技学院是应急管理部直属高校，前身是1950年创建的中央燃料工业部干部学校；1955年划归煤炭工业部，更名为煤炭工业部干部学校；1982年升格为北京煤炭管理干部学院；1984年在燕郊成立北京煤炭管理干部学院分院，1985年成立中国煤矿安全技术培训中心，学校实行一套机构、两块牌子的管理体制；1993年转制为普通高等学校，更名为华北矿业高等专科学校；2000年归属国家煤矿安全监察局（国家安全生产监管局）管理；2002年升格为普通本科院校，更名为华北科技学院，2005年归属国家安全生产监督管理总局管理；2011年获得工程硕士（安全工程领域）专业学位研究生培养资格；2018年归属应急管理部管理；2021年启动应急管理大学筹建工作。

North China Institute of Science and Technology is a university directly under the Ministry of Emergency Management. Its predecessor was the Cadre School of the Central Fuel Industry Ministry founded in 1950. In 1955, it was transferred to the Ministry of Coal Industry and renamed the Cadre School of the Ministry of Coal Industry. In 1982, it was upgraded to Beijing Coal Management Cadre College. In 1984, a branch of Beijing Coal Management Cadre College was established in Yanjiao, and in 1985, the China Coal Mine Safety Technology Training Center was established. The school implements a management system of "one institution with two nameplates". In 1993, it was transformed into a regular higher education institution and renamed North China Mining College. In 2000, it was under the management of the State Coal Mine Safety Supervision Bureau (State Administration of Work Safety). In 2002, it was upgraded to a regular undergraduate college and renamed North China Institute of Science and Technology. In 2005, it was under the management of the State Administration of Work Safety. In 2011, it obtained the qualification for cultivating postgraduates with professional degrees in engineering (safety engineering field). In 2018, it was under the management of the Ministry of Emergency Management. In 2021, the preparation for the establishment of the University of Emergency Management was launched.

学校把服务支撑大国应急管理事业作为第一面向，坚持立足应急管理、面向公共安全、服务经济社会，着力打造服务应急管理事业需要的人才培养高地、科技创新高地、教育培训高地，逐步形成了以本科教育为主，研究生教育、留学生教育、成人教育和短期培训多层次、较完整的人才培养体系。学校位于河北燕郊国家高新技术开发区，毗邻北京城市副中心。学校现有1个国家级工程实践教育中心，5个部委重点实验室，8个省部级实验室（中心、基地）。图书馆馆藏纸质图书148余万册，电子图书146余万种，各类中外文数据库39个。现代教育技术在教学、科研和培训中广泛应用，学校是中国教育科研网城市节点单位。

The school takes serving and supporting the emergency management cause of major countries as its primary orientation, adheres to being based on emergency management, facing public safety, and serving the economy and society, and strives to build a talent training highland, a scientific and technological innovation highland, and an education and training highland to meet the needs of the emergency management cause. It has gradually formed a multi-level and relatively complete talent training system dominated by undergraduate education, including postgraduate education, international student education, adult education and short-term training. The school is located in the Yanjiao National High-tech Development Zone, Hebei Province, adjacent to the Beijing Sub-center. The school currently has 1 national engineering practice education center, 5 key laboratories of ministries and commissions, and 8 provincial and ministerial laboratories (centers, bases). The library has a collection of more than 1.48 million paper books, more than 1.46 million kinds of e-books, and 39 Chinese and foreign databases. Modern educational technology is widely used in teaching, scientific research and training, and the school is a city node unit of China Education and Research Network.

学校下设15个二级学院，1个系部，全日制在校生约1.7万人。有60个本科专业，涉及工、管、文、理、法、经济、教育、艺术等八大学科门类。现有3个国家级一流本科专业建设点、3个国家级特色专业、5个省级一流本科专业建设点，3个教育部卓越工程师教育培养计划试点专业，安全工程、采矿工程通过工程教育专业认证。7个省级重点学科、重点发展学科、品牌特色专业。建有国家级课程2门，省部级一流课程、精品课程、课程思政示范课程等25门。

The school has 15 secondary colleges and 1 department, with about 17,000 full-time students. There are 60 undergraduate majors covering eight disciplines including engineering, management, liberal arts, science, law, economics, education and art. Currently, there are 3 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 national characteristic majors, 5 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 pilot majors of the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education, and safety engineering and mining engineering have passed the engineering education professional certification. There are 7 provincial key disciplines, key development disciplines, and brand characteristic majors. There are 2 national-level courses and 25 provincial-level first-class courses, excellent courses, and curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses.

学校拥有一支治学严谨的师资队伍。学校现有专任教师1000余人，其中高级职称占比52%以上，具有博士、硕士学位教师占比92%以上。学校柔性引进院士2人，新世纪百千万人才工程国家级人选3人，享受政府特殊津贴5人，教育部新世纪优秀人才支持计划8人，省教学名师、师德标兵、优秀教师9人。尹尚先教授领衔的矿井水致灾机理及预警保障系统团队入选教育部创新团队，陈学习教授领衔的矿业工程团队入选全国高校黄大年式教师团队。学校是全国安全科学与工程类专业教学指导委员会主任委员单位，负责全国安全类本科教学体系建设等工作。

The school has a rigorous teaching staff. The school currently has more than 1,000 full-time teachers, of which more than 52% have senior professional titles, and more than 92% have doctoral or master's degrees. The school has flexibly introduced 2 academicians, 3 national candidates for the New Century Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project, 5 people enjoying government special allowances, 8 people supported by the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents Support Program, and 9 provincial teaching masters, model teachers of morality and excellent teachers. The team led by Professor Yin Shangxian on the mechanism of mine water disaster and early warning support system was selected into the innovation team of the Ministry of Education, and the mining engineering team led by Professor Chen Xuexi was selected into the national university Huang Danian-style teacher team. The school is the chairman unit of the National Teaching Steering Committee for Safety Science and Engineering Majors, responsible for the construction of the national undergraduate teaching system for safety majors.
