南通师范高等专科学校肇端于1902年由中国近代著名实业家、教育家张謇先生创办的通州民立师范学校，是中国师范教育的三大源头之一。1952年转为公立，翌年改名为江苏省南通师范学校，历史上先后融汇了创办于1905年的南通女子师范学校、发端于1906年的海门师范学校以及创建于1902年的如皋高等师范学校三所百年师范，在中国师范教育史上具有独特地位，享有“红色师范教师摇篮”的美誉。2014年1月经江苏省人民政府批准升格为高等专科学校。

Nantong Normal College traces its origins to the Private Tongzhou Normal School founded in 1902 by Zhang Jian, a renowned modern industrialist and educator in China, and is one of the three cradles of normal education in China. It was converted to a public institution in 1952 and renamed Jiangsu Nantong Normal School the following year. Historically, it has successively merged with three century-old normal schools: Nantong Women's Normal School founded in 1905, Haimen Normal School originated in 1906, and Rugao Higher Normal School established in 1902. It holds a unique position in the history of normal education in China and is known as the "cradle of red normal teachers". In January 2014, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college with the approval of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government.

学校现有开发区、崇川、如皋三个校区，占地面积567.9亩，建筑面积25.8万平米，教学科研设备总值近1亿元，馆藏图书近92万册。全校教职工共607人，专任教师464人（其中副高以上174人，含教授30人，硕士以上355人，含博士22人），全日制在校生10732人，学生年均总就业率保持在95%以上。学校设有10个二级学院，开设学前教育、小学教育、音乐教育、美术教育、体育教育、大数据与财务管理、云计算技术应用等33个专业，其中小学教育专业已通过教育部师范类专业二级认证，是国家、省、市三级教师培训基地。

The college currently has three campuses: Development Zone, Chongchuan, and Rugao, covering an area of 567.9 mu with a building area of 258,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is nearly 100 million yuan, and the collection of books is nearly 920,000 volumes. There are 607 faculty members, including 464 full-time teachers (174 with associate senior titles or above, including 30 professors, 355 with master's degrees or above, including 22 doctors). The number of full-time students is 10,732, and the annual average employment rate of students remains above 95%. The college has 10 secondary colleges, offering 33 majors such as Preschool Education, Primary Education, Music Education, Fine Arts Education, Physical Education, Big Data and Financial Management, and Cloud Computing Technology Application. Among them, the Primary Education major has passed the second-level certification of normal majors by the Ministry of Education, and the college is a national, provincial, and municipal three-level teacher training base.
