南京信息工程大学是国家“双一流”建设高校，是江苏高水平大学建设高峰计划A类建设高校。学校始建于1960年，前身为南京大学气象学院，1978年独立建校为南京气象学院，2004年更名为南京信息工程大学。学校以大气科学为特色，学科涵盖理、工、文、管、经、法、农、艺等八大门类，形成了“大气科学”“信息科学与技术”“环境科学与工程”三大优势学科群。

Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) is a national "Double First-Class" construction university and a Class A university in the Jiangsu High-Level University Construction Peak Plan. Founded in 1960, the university was formerly the Department of Meteorology of Nanjing University. It became an independent university named Nanjing Institute of Meteorology in 1978 and was renamed Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in 2004. With atmospheric science as its distinctive feature, the university covers eight disciplines including science, engineering, liberal arts, management, economics, law, agriculture, and art, forming three dominant discipline groups: "Atmospheric Science", "Information Science and Technology", and "Environmental Science and Engineering".

学校拥有一支高水平的师资队伍，现有专任教师2000余人，其中中国科学院院士、中国工程院院士（含双聘）12人，国家级人才工程入选者100余人次。学校建有国家级重点实验室、国家工程技术研究中心等国家级科研平台7个，省部级科研平台40余个。在人才培养方面，学校坚持立德树人，培养了大批高素质创新型人才，毕业生在气象、环保、信息等领域享有良好声誉。

The university has a high-level faculty team with more than 2,000 full-time teachers, including 12 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (including double-employed academicians), and more than 100 recipients of national talent projects. It has 7 national-level scientific research platforms such as state key laboratories and national engineering technology research centers, and more than 40 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research platforms.
