平顶山学院是一所经教育部批准、由河南省人民政府主办的全日制普通本科院校，其前身是创建于1959年10月的平顶山师范学校。1977年8月附设大专班，1984年改为平顶山师范专科学校，2004年5月升格为本科院校，2012年通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估，2025年获批博士学位授予立项建设单位。学校坚定地方性应用型办学定位，是河南省转型发展试点高校、示范性应用技术类型本科院校，现有湖滨、崇文和东湖三个校区，占地面积160万余平方米，建筑面积77.7万余平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值3.32亿元，馆藏图书320.9万册。

Pingdingshan University is a full-time ordinary undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the Henan Provincial People's Government. Its predecessor was Pingdingshan Normal School founded in October 1959. In August 1977, it established an attached junior college class, which was renamed Pingdingshan Teachers College in 1984. Upgraded to an undergraduate institution in May 2004, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education in 2012 and was approved as a doctoral degree-granting project construction unit in 2025. Adhering to the local application-oriented school-running orientation, it is a pilot university for transformation and development in Henan Province and a demonstration application-oriented undergraduate institution. The university has three campuses: Hubin, Chongwen and Donghu, covering an area of over 1.6 million square meters with a building area of 777,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is 332 million yuan, and the collection of books is 3.209 million volumes.

学校现有全日制在校生22000余人，教职工2000余人，其中专任教师1400余人，具有博士硕士学历教师1100余人，高级职称教师近500人。设有21个教学单位、58个本科专业，涵盖工、管、理、文、医、教、经、法、艺九大学科门类，重点建设智能电气与信息、化工与新材料等7大学科专业群，拥有2个国家级、14个省级一流本科专业建设点，3个全日制专业硕士学位授权点及12个省级重点学科。学校深化产教融合，与平高集团等企业联合研发的高压智能电器成果应用于国内外重大工程，变电站接地网检测技术达国际领先水平。

The university has over 22,000 full-time students and more than 2,000 faculty members, including over 1,400 full-time teachers, more than 1,100 with doctoral or master's degrees, and nearly 500 with senior professional titles. It has 21 teaching units and 58 undergraduate majors covering nine disciplines: engineering, management, science, liberal arts, medicine, education, economics, law, and art. It focuses on building 7 key discipline groups such as intelligent electrical and information, chemical engineering and new materials. The university has 2 national-level and 14 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 3 full-time professional master's degree authorization points and 12 provincial key disciplines. Deepening industry-education integration, its joint R&D achievements in high-voltage intelligent electrical appliances with Pinggao Group and other enterprises have been applied in major domestic and foreign projects, and its substation grounding grid detection technology has reached the international leading level.
