中国人民解放军陆军工程大学于2017年以解放军理工大学、军械工程学院主体和重庆通信学院、工程兵学院、武汉军械士官学校为基础调整组建，是我军人才培养与科学研究并重、工程技术与作战指挥融合的综合性工程大学。

The Chinese People's Liberation Army Army Engineering University was restructured and established in 2017 on the basis of the main body of the PLA University of Science and Technology, the Ordnance Engineering College, as well as the Chongqing Communication College, the Engineering Corps College, and the Wuhan Ordnance Non-Commissioned Officer School. It is a comprehensive engineering university of the Chinese People's Liberation Army that attaches equal importance to talent cultivation and scientific research, and integrates engineering technology with combat command.

校本部坐落于长江之滨、人文荟萃的六朝古都江苏南京，设有通信工程学院、野战工程学院、指挥控制工程学院、国防工程学院、研究生院5个内设学院，另设石家庄校区（河北石家庄）、通信士官学校（重庆）、军械士官学校（湖北武汉）和训练基地（江苏徐州）。大学各组建单位办学历史可分别追溯至上世纪30至50年代在江西宁都创办的红军无线电训练班、在黑龙江哈尔滨创设的哈军工工兵工程系、在山东诸城创建的军械干部训练队、在江苏南京创立的二野军大和在吉林通化创始的东北民主联军工兵学校，在各个时期为我军现代化建设培养出了一大批中坚骨干和力量。

The university's headquarters is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, an ancient capital of six dynasties with a rich cultural heritage on the banks of the Yangtze River. It has 5 internal colleges, namely the College of Communication Engineering, the College of Field Engineering, the College of Command and Control Engineering, the College of National Defense Engineering, and the Graduate School. In addition, it has a Shijiazhuang campus (Shijiazhuang, Hebei), a Communication Non-Commissioned Officer School (Chongqing), an Ordnance Non-Commissioned Officer School (Wuhan, Hubei), and a training base (Xuzhou, Jiangsu). The educational history of each constituent unit of the university can be traced back to the Red Army Radio Training Class founded in Ningdu, Jiangxi in the 1930s - 1950s, the Engineering Corps Engineering Department of the Harbin Institute of Military Engineering established in Harbin, Heilongjiang, the Ordnance Cadre Training Team established in Zhucheng, Shandong, the Second Field Army University founded in Nanjing, Jiangsu, and the Northeast Democratic United Army Engineering Corps School founded in Tonghua, Jilin. In different periods, it has cultivated a large number of backbone talents for the modernization drive of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
