Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) is one of the top private universities in Ecuador. Founded in 1946, its main campus is located in Quito, the capital city, with other campuses in Ambato, Esmeraldas, Ibarra, Santo Domingo de los Colorados, and the province of Manabí. The Cuenca campus later became the Universidad del Azuay.
