青岛工学院是教育部批准的普通本科高等学校，前身为2005年建校的中国海洋大学青岛学院，由中国海洋大学申办、青岛伊力特德泰科教投资管理有限公司投资举办。2011年经教育部批准转设为独立建制的民办普通本科高校并更现名，2016年通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估，2021年确立建设上合应用科技大学目标，2022年入选山东省应用型本科高校建设支持高校。

Qingdao Institute of Technology is an ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was Qingdao College of Ocean University of China, founded in 2005, which was an independent college sponsored by Ocean University of China and invested by Qingdao Elite Detai Science, Education Investment and Management Co., Ltd. In 2011, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be transformed into an independent private ordinary undergraduate university and renamed to its current name. In 2016, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education. In 2021, it established the goal of building the SCO University of Applied Sciences, and in 2022, it was selected as a supporting university for the construction of applied undergraduate universities in Shandong Province.

学校位于青岛胶州湾畔、中国-上海合作组织地方经贸合作示范区，建筑面积34.61万平方米，下设9院1部，开设45个本科专业、10个专科专业，形成以工学为主，多学科协调发展的专业布局。拥有山东省民办本科高校优势特色专业6个、省级一流本科建设专业5个，获全国党建工作样板支部、山东省博士后创新实践基地等多项荣誉，致力于培养具有创新意识的高素质应用型人才。

The university is located on the bank of Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay and in the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone, with a construction area of 346,100 square meters. It has 9 schools and 1 department, offering 45 undergraduate majors and 10 junior college majors, forming a professional layout dominated by engineering and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It has 6 advantageous and characteristic majors of private undergraduate universities in Shandong Province and 5 provincial first-class undergraduate construction majors. It has won many honors such as the National Model Branch for Party Building Work and Shandong Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, and is committed to cultivating high-quality applied talents with innovative awareness.
