青海高等职业技术学院是2014年1月经青海省人民政府批准成立、教育部备案的一所综合性、全日制公办普通高等职业院校，学院的成立结束了海东市没有高等教育机构的历史。2018年4月，市委市政府整合原乐都区、平安区职业技术学校资源，成立海东市中等职业技术学校，并整体迁入学院，实现中高职办学资源共享；2024年11月，在原乐都广播电视大学基础上设置海东市开放大学，在学院挂牌办学，形成中高职教育与开放大学本科教育协同发展的办学格局。

Qinghai Higher Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive, full-time public higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of Qinghai Province in January 2014 and registered with the Ministry of Education. Its establishment ended the history of Haidong City without higher education institutions. In April 2018, the municipal Party committee and government integrated the resources of the former vocational and technical schools in Ledu District and Ping'an District to establish Haidong Secondary Vocational and Technical School, which was relocated to the college as a whole to realize the sharing of vocational and technical education resources. In November 2024, Haidong Open University was established on the basis of the former Ledu Radio and Television University and was established in the college, forming a school-running pattern of coordinated development of secondary and higher vocational education and open university undergraduate education.

学院占地面积548亩，建筑面积17.84万平方米，固定资产近15亿元，拥有纸质图书80万册、电子图书5.7万册的市校共管图书馆。现设有五系三部一中心共九个教学单位，开设有大数据与会计、光伏工程技术、酿酒技术、民族传统技艺等21个高职专业，其中国家级骨干建设专业1个、省级重点（特色）专业3个。面向青海、甘肃、四川等多省区招生，现有各类全日制在校生6377人，建院以来毕业生就业率平均达93%。

The college covers an area of 548 mu, with a building area of 178,400 square meters and fixed assets of nearly 1.5 billion yuan. It has a municipal-college co-managed library with 800,000 paper books and 57,000 e-books. It now has nine teaching units including five departments, three departments and one center, offering 21 higher vocational majors such as Big Data and Accounting, Photovoltaic Engineering Technology, Brewing Technology, and Traditional Ethnic Arts and Crafts, including 1 national key construction major and 3 provincial key (characteristic) majors. Enrolling students from Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and other provinces and regions, there are 6,377 full-time students of various types, and the average employment rate of graduates has reached 93% since the college was founded.
