青海理工学院是青海省委、省政府新建的全日制公办普通本科学校，2019年5月开始筹建，2024年5月获教育部批准正式设立。学校位于青海省西宁市城北区，校园占地1641.48亩，一期建筑总面积34.53万平方米，2023年9月建成投用并启动二期建设。学校以“工为主，理、工、经等多学科协调发展”为定位，秉持“强工、优理、精商”发展思路，设立6个学院和4个研究机构，重点打造高原生态环境科学、新材料与新能源开发、大数据与人工智能等学科群，其中大气科学为省级一流学科立项建设学科，计算机科学与技术、材料科学与工程、应用经济学为省级重点学科。

Qinghai Institute of Technology is a full-time public ordinary undergraduate university newly established by the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee and Government. Its preparation started in May 2019, and it was officially approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2024. Located in Chengbei District, Xining City, Qinghai Province, the university covers an area of 1,641.48 mu with a first-phase construction area of 345,300 square meters, which was completed and put into use in September 2023, followed by the launch of the second-phase campus construction. With a positioning of "focusing on engineering, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines including science and economics", the university adheres to the development philosophy of "strengthening engineering, optimizing science, and refining business". It has established 6 colleges and 4 research institutions, focusing on building discipline clusters such as plateau ecological environmental science, new materials and new energy development, big data and artificial intelligence. Among them, Atmospheric Science is a provincial first-class discipline under construction, and Computer Science and Technology, Materials Science and Engineering, and Applied Economics are provincial key disciplines.

学校首批设置大气科学、计算机科学与技术等13个本科专业，2024年实现首次本科招生，录取率100%；2025年新增应用气象学、人工智能等3个专业。师资队伍中，专任教师具有副高级以上职称者148人、博士学位者124人，入选青海省“昆仑英才”计划109人，柔性引进长江学者等高层次人才19人。依托国家对口支援计划，学校获南京大学、河海大学等顶尖高校定点帮扶，学生可赴支援高校交流学习；与中国气象局共建大气科学学科，拥有2个省级重点实验室和5个省级实验教学示范中心，近三年获批科研项目132项，经费近1亿元。

The university initially offered 13 undergraduate majors including Atmospheric Science and Computer Science and Technology, achieving 100% enrollment rate in its first undergraduate admission in 2024. In 2025, 3 new majors such as Applied Meteorology and Artificial Intelligence were added. Among the faculty, 148 full-time teachers hold associate senior titles or above, 124 have doctoral degrees, 109 have been selected into Qinghai Province's "Kunlun Talents" program, and 19 high-level talents including Yangtze River Scholars have been flexibly introduced. Relying on the national counterpart support program, the university receives targeted assistance from top universities such as Nanjing University and Hohai University, allowing students to study at supporting universities. It has jointly built the Atmospheric Science discipline with China Meteorological Administration, possesses 2 provincial key laboratories and 5 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and has obtained 132 scientific research projects with nearly 100 million yuan in funding in the past three years.
