琼台师范学院是海南省人民政府举办的省属公办全日制普通本科院校，坐落于海南美丽椰城——海口市。学校现有桂林洋、府城两个校区，占地面积1067亩，府城校区位于古城府城，校园环境静雅，古树参天，尽得千年琼州府之人文底蕴；桂林洋校区踞自贸港江东新区，毗邻东寨港红树林自然保护区，傍依美兰国际机场，既拥省会都市之繁华，又享世界级湿地之静美。

Qiongtai Normal University is a public full-time ordinary undergraduate college run by the People's Government of Hainan Province, located in Haikou, the beautiful coconut city of Hainan. The university currently has two campuses, Guilin Ocean and Fucheng, covering an area of 1067 mu. The Fucheng campus is located in the ancient city of Fucheng, with a quiet and elegant campus environment and towering ancient trees, embodying the cultural heritage of the thousand-year-old Qiongzhou Prefecture. The Guilin Ocean campus is located in the Jiangdong New Area of the Free Trade Port, adjacent to the Dongzhai Port Mangrove Nature Reserve and Meilan International Airport, enjoying both the prosperity of the provincial capital city and the tranquility and beauty of a world-class wetland.

学校前身是创办于1705年的琼台书院，琼台是琼州的别名，也是明代琼籍理学名臣、文学大家、武英殿大学士丘浚的别号，以琼台命名，一是志地，二是志人，三是志向，丕承前贤，以励后学。学校历经书院、学堂、中师、大专、本科院校，三百余年弦歌不辍、诲人不倦，崇文重教、化育英才，素有“进士摇篮、革命摇篮、教师摇篮”之美誉。新中国成立后，琼台作为海南幼儿与小学教师培养培训的主要基地，共向社会输送了8万余名各类专门人才，涌现出了被学界誉为“20世纪现代汉语语法八大家”之一的著名语言学家、中国对外汉语教育学会原会长邢福义等优秀毕业生。

The predecessor of the university is Qiongtai Academy founded in 1705. "Qiongtai" is the alias of Qiongzhou and also the courtesy name of Qiu Jun, a famous Neo-Confucianist, literary scholar, and Grand Secretary of the Wuyingdian in the Ming Dynasty. The name "Qiongtai" is used to denote the place, the person, and the aspiration, inheriting the virtues of predecessors to inspire future students. Having gone through the development stages of academy, school, normal school, junior college, and undergraduate college, the university has been committed to education for over 300 years, emphasizing culture and education, and cultivating talents, thus earning the reputation of "cradle of scholars, cradle of revolution, and cradle of teachers". Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, as the main base for training kindergarten and primary school teachers in Hainan, Qiongtai has输送 over 80,000 various professionals to the society, including outstanding graduates such as Xing Fuyi, a famous linguist known as one of the "Eight Masters of Modern Chinese Grammar in the 20th Century" and former president of the Chinese Society of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.

学校始终坚守“为党育人、为国育才”初心使命，以“办人民满意的琼台、办自贸港需要的琼台”为使命愿景，坚持立足海南、扎根基层、面向全国，为基础教育和中国特色自由贸易港高质量发展服务，奋力打造师范性、地方性、开放性、应用型本科师范院校。学校现有教职员工千余人，全日制在校学生近12000人，设有11个教学单位，开设29个本科专业，是教育部师范教育协同提质计划重点支持院校、全国师范院校联盟学前教育专委会副主任单位等。

The university always adheres to the original mission of "cultivating talents for the Party and the country", with the mission and vision of "building a Qiongtai satisfactory to the people and needed by the Free Trade Port". It insists on being based in Hainan, rooted in the grassroots, and facing the whole country, serving basic education and the high-quality development of the China (Hainan) Free Trade Port, and striving to build a normal, local, open, and application-oriented undergraduate normal university. The university currently has over 1,000 faculty members and nearly 12,000 full-time students, with 11 teaching units and 29 undergraduate majors. It is a key supported institution of the Ministry of Education's Normal Education Collaborative Quality Improvement Plan and the vice-chairman unit of the Preschool Education Special Committee of the National Normal University Alliance.
