四川民族学院是国家布局在康巴地区（西藏昌都、青海玉树、云南迪庆、四川甘孜）唯一公办普通本科高校，位于四川省甘孜藏族自治州康定市和泸定县（一校、两地、三区）。始建于1985年设立的康定民族师范专科学校，时任中共中央总书记胡耀邦为学校题写汉文校名，1986年第十世班禅大师额尔德尼·确吉坚赞题写藏文校名。学校依偎青藏高原，坐落在贡嘎山下，毗邻康定、泸定等知名地域，318国道与大渡河从旁经过，校园环境优美，年平均气温18℃，是省级园林式校园。
