上海外国语大学（Shanghai International Studies University，SISU）创建于1949年12月，前身为华东人民革命大学附设外文专修学校，是新中国成立后兴办的第一所高等外语学府，是教育部直属并与上海市共建、进入国家“211工程”和“双一流”建设的全国重点大学。

Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), founded in December 1949, formerly known as the Foreign Language Training School Affiliated to East China People's Revolutionary University, is the first higher foreign language institution established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is a key national university directly under the Ministry of Education, co-constructed with the Shanghai Municipal Government, and included in the "211 Project" and "Double First-Class" construction.

学校秉承“格高志远、学贯中外”的校训精神，致力于培养“会语言、通国家、精领域”的复合型、国际化人才。现有38个本科专业，涵盖18个外语类专业和20个非外语类专业，形成了以语言文学类学科为优势，文、教、经、管、法、工、艺等多学科协调发展的学科专业体系。

Adhering to the school motto of "Lofty Aspirations and Broad Vision, Proficiency in Chinese and Foreign Studies", the university is committed to cultivating compound and international talents who "master languages, understand countries, and excel in professional fields". Currently, it offers 38 undergraduate programs, covering 18 foreign language majors and 20 non-foreign language majors, forming a disciplinary system with language and literature disciplines as the优势, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as liberal arts, education, economics, management, law, engineering, and arts.
