Shihezi University is a national "Double First-Class" construction university and a key construction university of the national "211 Project". It is co-constructed by the Ministry of Education and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. 学校现有教职工2800余人，其中专任教师1900余人，拥有中国工程院院士1人，教育部“长江学者”特聘教授、国家“万人计划”领军人才等国家级人才30余人。在校学生41000余人，其中普通本科生22000余人，硕士、博士研究生12000余人，留学生500余人。学校设有23个学院，96个本科专业，有9个一级学科博士学位授权点，30个一级学科硕士学位授权点，20种硕士专业学位授权类别。

The university currently has more than 2,800 faculty members, including more than 1,900 full-time teachers, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and more than 30 national-level talents such as distinguished professors of the Ministry of Education's "Changjiang Scholars" and leading talents of the national "Ten Thousand Talents Program". There are more than 41,000 students, including more than 22,000 ordinary undergraduates, more than 12,000 master's and doctoral students, and more than 500 international students. The university has 23 colleges, 96 undergraduate majors, 9 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 30 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and 20 types of master's professional degree authorization categories.

学校坚持以立德树人为根本，不断深化教育教学改革，着力培养基础扎实、知识面宽、能力强、素质高，具有创新精神和实践能力，适应区域经济社会发展需要的复合型人才。近年来，学校荣获国家级教学成果奖7项，省级教学成果奖50余项。在科研方面，学校拥有省部共建国家重点实验室培育基地1个，教育部重点实验室2个，农业农村部重点实验室1个，国家地方联合工程研究中心1个，科研实力雄厚。
