Siberian Federal University is the largest comprehensive university in eastern Russia, established in November 2006 through the merger of Krasnoyarsk State University, State University of Architecture and Construction, State Technical University, and State University of Gold and Non-Ferrous Metals. Ranked 15th among Russian universities and first in Krasnoyarsk, it is a key federal university directly under the Russian Ministry of Education, dedicated to promoting socioeconomic development in Siberia and the Far East.

The university comprises 20 faculties covering science, engineering, oil and gas, non-ferrous metals, ecology and geography, mathematics and computer science, economics, management, and humanities. It offers 151 undergraduate and master's programs, including 4 English-taught master's courses (Medical and Biophysics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Data Science, Digital Intelligent Control Systems). With over 3,300 faculty members (317 professors, 864 associate professors, 124 doctoral supervisors), it leads research in nanoscience, new materials, biomedicine, and climate change.

The campus features 24 academic buildings, 29 dormitories, 10 sports centers, and 2 swimming pools. Dormitories offer basic amenities with an annual maximum cost of $250. Internationally oriented, it hosts over 1,000 international students from 43 countries and partners with 260 global universities. Students enjoy 78 free sports programs and cultural activities like the "Students Without Borders" intercollegiate music festival, fostering a diverse learning environment.
