Gliwice University of Technology, located in Gliwice, Poland, is a long-established public higher education institution founded in 1945 by professors from the former Lviv Polytechnic Institute. It was established to provide scientific and educational support for the Upper Silesia region, the most industrialized area in Poland. Initially housing four faculties with 2,750 students and nearly 200 teachers, the university has grown into one of Poland's larger technical universities, enjoying a strong reputation in engineering and technology.

The university now has three campuses (11 in Gliwice, 2 in Katowice, and 2 in Zabrze) and 13 faculties, covering fields such as Electronics and Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mining and Geology, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Energy and Environmental Engineering. It offers nearly 60 study programs and approximately 200 specializations. Currently, the university has around 22,000 students, including over 600 doctoral students, and more than 3,400 faculty and staff, including 1,750 academic staff and 165 professors, forming a comprehensive teaching and research system.

In terms of academic strengths, the university excels in engineering and technology disciplines, with programs such as Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Energy and Environmental Engineering enjoying strong competitiveness both domestically and internationally. It emphasizes research innovation and identified six priority research areas in 2019: Cancer Omics and Personalized Medicine, Artificial Intelligence and Data Processing, Future Materials, Smart Cities and Future Mobility, Process Automation and Industry 4.0, and Climate and Environmental Protection. The university actively participates in international research projects and operates a Foreign Language Center offering Polish conversation courses, academic Polish programs, and summer language schools to support international students.
