南方医科大学前身为中国人民解放军第一军医大学,创建于1951年,1979年被确定为全国重点大学,2004年整体移交广东省,更名为南方医科大学。学校是广东省高水平大学重点建设高校中唯一的医学院校,也是全国首批“部委省”共建医科大学、广东省“冲一流”高校。
Southern Medical University, formerly known as the First Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, was founded in 1951. It was identified as a national key university in 1979 and was transferred to Guangdong Province as a whole in 2004, renamed Southern Medical University. The university is the only medical school among the key universities in Guangdong Province's high-level university construction plan, and also one of the first batch of "ministry-province co-constructed" medical universities in China and a "first-class" university in Guangdong Province.
学校学科特色鲜明,临床医学、基础医学、公共卫生与预防医学等学科实力雄厚,其中临床医学入选国家“双一流”建设学科,拥有5个国家重点学科,8个学科进入ESI全球前1%。学校现有13所直属附属医院,其中三级甲等医院11所,医疗服务能力位居全国前列。
The university has distinctive disciplinary characteristics, with strong strengths in clinical medicine, basic medicine, public health and preventive medicine. The university currently has 13 directly affiliated hospitals, including 11 tertiary first-class hospitals, and its medical service capacity ranks among the top in China.
