斯坦福大学（Stanford University），全名小利兰·斯坦福大学（Leland Stanford Junior University），1891年由时任加州州长及铁路大亨利兰·斯坦福和他的妻子简·莱思罗普·斯坦福为纪念他们因伤寒去世的儿子小利兰·斯坦福而创办，位于美国加利福尼亚州斯坦福市，临近旧金山湾区，是一所享誉世界的私立研究型大学。

Stanford University, officially known as Leland Stanford Junior University, was founded in 1891 by Leland Stanford, then Governor of California and a railroad tycoon, and his wife Jane Lathrop Stanford in memory of their son Leland Stanford Jr., who died of typhoid fever.
