陕西科技大学是一所具有光荣历史和鲜明特色的多科性大学，其前身是1958年创建的北京轻工业学院，是新中国第一所轻工高等院校。学校历经北京轻工业学院、西北轻工业学院、陕西科技大学等发展阶段，2012年实现陕西省人民政府与中国轻工业联合会共建，2017年入选国家“双一流”建设高校，2022年入选国家第二轮“双一流”建设高校，化学学科入选“双一流”建设学科。

Shaanxi University of Science & Technology (SUST) is a multidisciplinary university with a glorious history and distinctive characteristics. Its predecessor was Beijing Institute of Light Industry founded in 1958, the first light industry institution of higher education in New China. The university has gone through several development stages, including Beijing Institute of Light Industry, Northwest Institute of Light Industry, and Shaanxi University of Science & Technology. In 2012, it was jointly built by the People's Government of Shaanxi Province and the China National Light Industry Council. In 2017, it was selected as a national "Double First-Class" construction university, and in 2022, it was selected as a national second-round "Double First-Class" construction university, with the chemistry discipline selected as a "Double First-Class" construction discipline.

学校以“立德树人”为根本任务，坚持“面向行业、服务地方、引领发展”的办学定位，形成了以轻工技术与工程为特色，工、理、管、文、经、法、艺、医等学科协调发展的学科体系。现有国家级一流本科专业建设点30个，省级一流本科专业建设点15个，国家级特色专业建设点9个，国家级实验教学示范中心4个，国家级虚拟仿真实验教学中心2个。学校在长期的办学实践中，培养了大批高素质创新型人才，为国家和地方经济社会发展做出了重要贡献。

With "fostering virtue through education" as its fundamental task, the university adheres to the school-running orientation of "facing the industry, serving the local area, and leading development", and has formed a disciplinary system featuring light industry technology and engineering, with coordinated development of engineering, science, management, literature, economics, law, art, medicine and other disciplines. Currently, it has 30 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 15 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 9 national-level characteristic major construction sites, 4 national-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 2 national-level virtual simulation experimental teaching centers. In the long-term school-running practice, the university has cultivated a large number of high-quality innovative talents and made important contributions to the economic and social development of the country and local areas.
