西南石油大学是新中国创建的第二所石油本科院校，是一所中央与地方共建、以四川省人民政府管理为主的高等学校。经过多年发展，学校已成为以工为主、多学科协调发展、石油天然气特色鲜明的大学，在石油天然气勘探开发、油气储运工程、油气田化学工程等领域具有较强的学科优势和科研实力。

Southwest Petroleum University is the second petroleum undergraduate institution founded in New China. 学校现有成都、南充两个校区，校园总面积3000余亩。设有多个学院和专业，涵盖工学、理学、管理学、经济学、文学、法学、教育学等多个学科门类，形成了完善的学科专业体系和人才培养体系。学校始终坚持以人才培养为中心，注重学生创新精神和实践能力的培养，为国家石油天然气工业和地方经济社会发展培养了大批优秀人才。
