西南民族大学坐落于四川成都，是中华人民共和国国家民族事务委员会直属高校，由国家民族事务委员会、教育部、四川省人民政府、成都市人民政府共建，是一所学科门类齐全、师资力量雄厚、办学特色鲜明的综合性民族高等院校。学校创建于1950年7月，前身为西南民族学院，2003年4月更名为西南民族大学。

Southwest Minzu University is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It is a university directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China and co-constructed by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and the People's Government of Chengdu. It is a comprehensive ethnic institution of higher learning with complete disciplines, strong faculty, and distinctive school-running characteristics. Founded in July 1950, the university was formerly known as Southwest Institute for Nationalities and was renamed Southwest Minzu University in April 2003.

学校始终坚持以立德树人作为根本任务，致力于培养担当民族复兴大任的时代新人。现有26个学院，87个本科专业，涵盖文、史、哲、经、管、法、教、理、工、农、医、艺等12个学科门类。拥有博士学位授权一级学科3个，硕士学位授权一级学科24个，专业学位授权点21个，形成了较为完善的学位授权体系和学科专业结构。

The university has always adhered to moral education as its fundamental task and is committed to cultivating new people of the times who are responsible for national rejuvenation. It currently has 26 colleges and 87 undergraduate majors, covering 12 disciplines including literature, history, philosophy, economics, management, law, education, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and art. It has 3 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 24 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, and 21 professional degree authorization points, forming a relatively complete degree authorization system and discipline professional structure.
