山西农业大学(山西省农业科学院)是我国著名高等农业学府,教育部本科教学评估优秀高校,山西省政府与农业农村部共建高校,全国首批深化创新创业教育改革示范高校,国家中西部基础能力建设入选高校。学校始建于1907年创办的私立铭贤学堂,历经发展,1951年改私立为公办成立山西农学院,1979年更名为山西农业大学并成为改革开放初全国99所重点大学之一。2019年10月,山西农业大学与山西省农业科学院合署改革,组建新的山西农业大学。
Shanxi Agricultural University (Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences) is a renowned higher agricultural institution in China, an excellent university in the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of Education, a university jointly built by the Shanxi Provincial Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, one of the first national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and a university selected into the national basic capacity building project for universities in central and western China. Founded in 1907 as the private Mingxian School, it developed into Shanxi Agricultural College in 1951 when it was converted from private to public, and was renamed Shanxi Agricultural University in 1979, becoming one of the 99 key universities in China at the beginning of the reform and opening up. In October 2019, Shanxi Agricultural University and Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences were merged to form a new Shanxi Agricultural University.

The university has a complete range of disciplines with distinct characteristics and advantages. It currently has two campuses, Taigu Campus and Taiyuan Longcheng Campus, as well as research institutions throughout the province, including 22 teaching units and 20 directly affiliated scientific research institutes (centers). The disciplines cover 8 categories: agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art. It has 9 post-doctoral research stations, 9 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 1 doctoral professional degree authorization category, 13 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, 8 master's professional degree authorization categories, and 68 undergraduate majors.
