山西大学是中国山西省人民政府与教育部共建的综合性大学，是国家“双一流”建设高校，拥有百年办学历史，文脉可追溯至1902年创办的山西大学堂。学校坐落于具有2500多年建城史的国家历史文化名城——太原，现有坞城、大东关、东山（在建）三个校区，总占地面积3008亩，建筑面积116.64万平方米。

Shanxi University is a comprehensive university jointly built by the People's Government of Shanxi Province and the Ministry of Education. It is a national "Double First-Class" construction university with a century-old history of running schools, which can be traced back to Shanxi University Hall founded in 1902. The university is located in Taiyuan, a national historical and cultural city with a history of more than 2,500 years. It has three campuses: Wucheng, Dadongguan and Dongshan (under construction), with a total area of 3,008 mu and a building area of 1.1664 million square meters.

学校学科门类齐全，涵盖文、史、哲、理、工、农、医、管、法、经、教、艺等12大学科门类，设有93个本科专业，拥有19个一级学科博士学位授权点、35个一级学科硕士学位授权点、24个硕士专业学位种类。在长期的办学实践中，学校始终坚持立德树人根本任务，形成了“中西会通、求真至善、登崇俊良、自强报国”的校训精神和“勤奋严谨、信实创新”的优良校风。

The university has a complete range of disciplines, covering 12 disciplines including literature, history, philosophy, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, law, economics, education and art. It offers 93 undergraduate majors, with 19 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 35 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points and 24 master's professional degree categories. In the long-term practice of running the school, the university has always adhered to the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and talents, forming the school motto spirit of "Integration of China and the West, Seeking Truth and Goodness, Respecting the Excellent and the Good, Self-improvement and Serving the Country" and the fine school spirit of "Diligence, Rigor, Honesty and Innovation".

学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工3265人，其中专任教师2183人，具有高级职称教师1138人，博士生导师326人，硕士生导师1680人。拥有一批国家杰出青年科学基金获得者、长江学者奖励计划特聘教授、国家“万人计划”领军人才等国家级人才。近年来，学校在科学研究、人才培养、社会服务等方面取得了显著成就，为国家和地方经济社会发展作出了重要贡献。

The university has a strong faculty, with 3,265 faculty members, including 2,183 full-time teachers, 1,138 teachers with senior titles, 326 doctoral supervisors and 1,680 master supervisors. It has a number of national-level talents such as winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, distinguished professors of the Yangtze River Scholars Award Program, and leading talents of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program". In recent years, the university has made remarkable achievements in scientific research, talent training, social services, etc., and has made important contributions to the economic and social development of the country and the region.
