山西应用科技学院是教育部批准的普通本科高校，以实施本科教育为主，同时举办专科教育。学校设北格、黄陵和太谷三个校区，北格校区为主校区，位于龙城太原滨河之东的山西省转型综合改革示范区潇河现代产业园、毗邻山西省综改区中小企业产业园区。学校前身是1991年创办的山西文化艺术专修学校；2001年经山西省政府批准、教育部备案成立山西兴华职业学院，开始全日制普通专科教育；2014年5月，经教育部批准升格为普通本科院校，校名定为山西应用科技学院。

Shanxi College of Applied Science and Technology is an ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, mainly offering undergraduate education while also providing junior college education. The university has three campuses: Beige, Huangling, and Taigu, with the Beige Campus as the main campus. It is located in the Xiaohe Modern Industrial Park of Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone, east of the Binhe River in Taiyuan, the Dragon City, adjacent to the SME Industrial Park of Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Zone. The predecessor of the university was Shanxi Cultural and Art Training School founded in 1991; in 2001, with the approval of the Shanxi Provincial Government and the record of the Ministry of Education, Shanxi Xinghua Vocational College was established to start full-time ordinary junior college education; in May 2014, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate university with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and the school name was designated as Shanxi College of Applied Science and Technology.

学校现有11个教学院（部），35个本科专业，涵盖工学、管理学、艺术学、经济学、教育学5个学科门类，全日制本科在校生一万六千余人。拥有省级一流本科专业建设点6个、省级一流课程31门，省级课程思政示范课程2门；有省级1331工程特色优势建设学科1个、省级1331工程数据应用技术产业学院1个等多个省级教学科研平台。学校先后荣获中国民办高校先进单位、连续四次获山西省精神文明创建先进单位等荣誉称号，2021年被省教育厅遴选确定为山西省应用型本科建设高校。

The university currently has 11 teaching colleges (departments) and 35 undergraduate majors, covering 5 disciplines including engineering, management, art, economics, and education, with more than 16,000 full-time undergraduate students. It has 6 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 31 provincial-level first-class courses, and 2 provincial-level ideological and political demonstration courses; there are multiple provincial-level teaching and research platforms such as 1 provincial-level 1331 Project characteristic and advantageous discipline, and 1 provincial-level 1331 Project data application technology industry college. The university has successively won the honorary titles of Advanced Unit of Chinese Private Colleges and Universities, and has been awarded the Advanced Unit of Spiritual Civilization Creation in Shanxi Province four times. In 2021, it was selected as a Shanxi Provincial Applied Undergraduate Construction University by the Provincial Department of Education.
