苏州农业职业技术学院始建于1907年，初名为苏州府官立农业学堂，至今已有一百多年的办学历史，被誉为中国近现代园艺与园林职业教育的发祥地。学校现有西园路校本部、相城校区和东山校区，总占地面积1600余亩。共设有园艺科技学院、园林工程学院、经济管理学院、智慧农业学院、环境工程学院、食品科技学院、国际教育学院7个二级学院，43个招生专业面向全国16个省（直辖市、自治区）招生，各类在校生约1.1万人，教职员工700余人。

Suzhou Polytechnic Institute of Agriculture was founded in 1907, initially named Suzhou Prefectural Agricultural School. With a history of over a hundred years, it is honored as the birthplace of modern horticultural and landscape vocational education in China. The school currently has three campuses: the main campus on Xiyuan Road, Xiangcheng Campus, and Dongshan Campus, covering a total area of more than 1,600 mu. It consists of seven secondary colleges, including the College of Horticultural Science and Technology, College of Landscape Architecture Engineering, College of Economic Management, College of Smart Agriculture, College of Environmental Engineering, College of Food Science and Technology, and College of International Education. Offering 43 enrollment majors, it recruits students from 16 provinces (municipalities directly under the Central Government, autonomous regions) across the country, with approximately 11,000 students and over 700 faculty members.

学校陆续入选国家“双高计划”建设单位、国家优质专科高等职业院校、全国乡村振兴人才培养优质校、国家技能人才培育突出贡献单位、全国示范性职业教育集团（联盟）培育单位。一个多世纪以来，学校秉承“励志耕耘，树木树人”的校训，弘扬“勤勉崇农，实干创新”的苏农精神，培养了一大批高素质农业技术与管理人才，其中有我国近代花卉园艺学科奠基人之一、著名花卉园艺学家章守玉，高等园艺教育开拓者之一、著名果树园艺学家胡昌炽，微生物学家、中科院院士沈善炯等优秀学子，为促进农业农村现代化、实施乡村振兴战略、服务地方经济社会发展作出了积极贡献。

The school has successively been selected as a national "Double-High Plan" construction unit, a national high-quality vocational college, a national high-quality school for rural revitalization talent training, an outstanding contribution unit for national skilled talent cultivation, and a national demonstration vocational education group (alliance) cultivation unit. For more than a century, adhering to the school motto of "Aspire to Cultivate, Foster People Like Trees" and promoting the "Suzhou Agricultural Spirit" of "Diligence in Respecting Agriculture, Practicality and Innovation", the school has cultivated a large number of high-quality agricultural technical and management talents. Among them are outstanding alumni such as Zhang Shouyu, one of the founders of modern flower horticulture in China and a famous flower horticulturist; Hu Changchi, one of the pioneers of higher horticultural education and a famous fruit tree horticulturist; and Shen Shanjiong, a microbiologist and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The school has made positive contributions to promoting agricultural and rural modernization, implementing the rural revitalization strategy, and serving local economic and social development.
