天津美术学院前身为1906年创办的北洋女师范学堂，是中国最早的公立高等美术院校之一，2009年获批成为教育部立项建设的硕士学位授予单位。学校以美术学、设计学为优势学科，形成了覆盖造型艺术、设计艺术、环境艺术等多领域的学科体系，现有天纬路、志成路两个校区，在校本科生、研究生及留学生5000余人。

Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, formerly known as Beiyang Women's Normal School founded in 1906, is one of the earliest public higher art institutions in China. In 2009, it was approved as a master's degree-granting unit by the Ministry of Education. With fine arts and design as its dominant disciplines, the university has formed a disciplinary system covering multiple fields such as plastic arts, design arts, and environmental arts. It currently has two campuses, Tianwei Road and Zhicheng Road, with over 5,000 undergraduate students, postgraduates, and international students.

学校秉持“崇德尚艺，力学力行”的校训，注重传统与现代融合、理论与实践结合，培养了大批优秀艺术人才。拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点8个，省级一流本科专业建设点3个，设有造型艺术学院、设计艺术学院等12个教学单位，近年来在全国美展、设计大赛中屡获佳绩，为区域文化艺术发展和国家美育事业作出重要贡献。

Adhering to the school motto of "Upholding Virtue and Art, Striving to Learn and Practice", the university focuses on integrating tradition with modernity and combining theory with practice, cultivating a large number of outstanding artistic talents. It has 8 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 3 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites. There are 12 teaching units including the School of Plastic Arts and the School of Design Arts. In recent years, it has won many awards in national art exhibitions and design competitions, making important contributions to regional cultural and artistic development and national aesthetic education.
