太原学院是一所由太原市人民政府举办、经教育部批准设立的全日制普通高等学校，前身为2002年合并组建的太原大学，2013年升格为本科院校并更名。学校历史可追溯至1905年的山西官立师范学堂，徐向前等老一辈革命家曾在此就读。现有汾东、滨河、府东三个校区，占地面积1658亩，馆藏纸质图书165.42万册，形成以工为主，文、理、经、农、管、艺等多学科协调发展的学科体系，开设41个本科专业，教职工1182人，其中副高以上职称教师占40.2%，博士硕士占93.5%。2023年通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估，是首批山西省应用型本科高校建设单位，秉承“博学、弘毅、力行、至善”校训，培养高层次应用型专门人才。

Taiyuan University is a full-time ordinary institution of higher education sponsored by the Taiyuan Municipal People's Government and approved by the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was Taiyuan University, established by merger in 2002, and it was upgraded to an undergraduate institution and renamed in 2013. The university's history can be traced back to the Shanxi Official Normal School founded in 1905, where revolutionary elders like Xu Xiangqian once studied. It currently has three campuses (Fendong, Binhe, and Fudong) covering an area of 1658 mu, with 1.6542 million paper books in its collection. It has formed a discipline system coordinated by engineering as the main focus, alongside arts, science, economics, agriculture, management, and art, offering 41 undergraduate programs. The university has 1182 faculty members, with 40.2% of full-time teachers holding associate senior titles or above, and 93.5% having doctoral or master's degrees. It passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment by the Ministry of Education in 2023 and is among the first batch of applied undergraduate university construction units in Shanxi Province. Adhering to the motto of "Erudition, Perseverance, Practice, Perfection", it cultivates high-level applied professionals.

学校坚持“崇德尚能，博知力行”育人理念，注重学生应用能力与创新精神培养，2023年学生获省级以上学科竞赛奖项481项，其中国家级94项；大学生创新创业训练项目立项164项。现有18个教学系（院、部），拥有双师双能型教师330人，获教育部协同育人项目23项，建有175个实验实训室，与155家企业开展合作，形成“理论+实践+创新”三位一体培养体系，重点服务区域产业发展和地方转型需求，为山西及全国输送大批基础扎实、作风朴实的应用型人才。

Adhering to the educational philosophy of "Virtue and Ability, Knowledge and Practice", the university emphasizes cultivating students' application ability and innovative spirit. In 2023, students won 481 provincial and above academic competition awards, including 94 national awards, and 164 college student innovation and entrepreneurship training projects were approved. The university has 18 teaching departments (colleges, divisions), with 330 "double-qualified" teachers. It has obtained 23 collaborative education projects from the Ministry of Education, built 175 laboratories and training rooms, and carried out cooperation with 155 enterprises, forming a "theory + practice + innovation" trinity training system. Focusing on serving regional industrial development and local transformation needs, it has cultivated a large number of application-oriented talents with solid foundations and pragmatic attitudes for Shanxi and the whole country.
