特伦托大学（University of Trento）于1962年成立于意大利最北部特伦蒂诺-上阿迪杰大区的特伦托市，前身为意大利首个社会科学高等研究学院，1972年发展为自由大学，1982年正式成为公立大学。作为意大利最年轻的顶尖学府之一，该校以跨学科研究和国际化办学为特色，在泰晤士高等教育世界大学排名中，曾位列“建校不足五十年大学”第37位、全球第198位，是欧洲大学协会、欧洲创新大学联盟等重要学术组织成员。

The University of Trento was founded in 1962 in Trento, a city in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy. Its predecessor was Italy's first Higher Institute for Social Sciences, which evolved into a free university in 1972 and became a public university in 1982. As one of Italy's youngest top-tier institutions, it is renowned for interdisciplinary research and internationalization. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it has ranked 37th among "universities under 50 years old" and 198th globally, and is a member of important academic organizations such as the European University Association and the European Consortium of Innovative Universities.

学校现有三个校区，分别位于特伦托市中心、郊区丘陵地带及邻近的罗韦雷托市，下设细胞与整合生物学院、土木与环境工程学院、认知科学学院等多个院系，其中认知科学学院是意大利公立大学中首个专注于心理、行为与神经科学研究的跨学科机构。学科设置涵盖经济、法律、工程、自然科学、人文社科等领域，提供本科至博士层次课程，工学院曾位列意大利高校榜首，整体学术水平稳居全国前三。

The university has three campuses located in central Trento, suburban hilly areas, and the neighboring city of Rovereto. It comprises multiple departments including the Department of Cellular, Computational and Integrative Biology, the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering, and the Department of Cognitive Science—the first interdisciplinary institution in Italian public universities dedicated to research in psychology, behavior, and neuroscience. Its academic offerings span economics, law, engineering, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences, with programs from undergraduate to doctoral levels. The Faculty of Engineering has ranked first among Italian universities, and the university's overall academic standing consistently places it among the top three in the country.
