The University of Wrocław is a top public research university in Poland and one of the oldest universities in Central Europe, formally established in 1702 (with roots dating back to 1505) and located in Wrocław, Poland's fourth-largest city. As the second-oldest university in Poland, it integrates academic traditions from Germany's Breslau University and Lviv's Jan Kazimierz University, having produced 9 Nobel laureates and earning international recognition in fundamental disciplines such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry.

Ranked 49th in the 2022 QS Emerging Europe & Central Asia University Rankings, it publishes thousands of academic papers annually and participates in over 280 international research projects, making it one of Poland's most internationally oriented universities.
