中国石油大学（华东）是教育部直属全国重点大学，国家“双一流”建设高校、“211工程”重点建设高校，是一所以工为主、石油石化特色鲜明、多学科协调发展的大学。学校始建于1953年，历经北京石油学院、华东石油学院、石油大学等发展阶段，2005年更名为中国石油大学（华东）。

China University of Petroleum (East China) is a key national university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "Double First-Class" construction university, and a key construction university of the "211 Project". It is a university with engineering as its main focus, distinctive petroleum and petrochemical characteristics, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. Founded in 1953, the university has gone through development stages such as Beijing Petroleum Institute, East China Petroleum Institute, and University of Petroleum, and was renamed China University of Petroleum (East China) in 2005.

学校现有青岛唐岛湾校区、古镇口校区以及东营科教园区，总占地面积约4774亩。设有地球科学与技术学院、石油工程学院、化学工程学院等26个学院（部），开设80个本科专业，拥有14个博士后流动站，17个一级学科博士点，33个一级学科硕士点，18种硕士专业学位授权类别。

The university currently has the Qingdao Tangdaowan Campus, Guzhenkou Campus, and Dongying Science and Education Park, with a total area of approximately 4,774 mu. It has 26 colleges (departments) including the School of Geosciences and Technology, the School of Petroleum Engineering, and the School of Chemical Engineering, offering 80 undergraduate majors, 14 post-doctoral research stations, 17 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 33 first-level discipline master programs, and 18 types of master's professional degree authorization categories.

学校始终坚持立德树人根本任务，着力培养德智体美劳全面发展的社会主义建设者和接班人。现有全日制在校本科生近20000人、研究生10000余人，留学生1000余人。近年来，学校在教学改革、科研创新、社会服务等方面取得显著成就，为国家石油石化行业和地方经济社会发展作出了重要贡献。

The university has always adhered to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, striving to cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor. Currently, there are nearly 20,000 full-time undergraduates, more than 10,000 graduate students, and more than 1,000 international students. In recent years, the university has made remarkable achievements in teaching reform, scientific research innovation, and social services, making important contributions to the national petroleum and petrochemical industry and local economic and social development.
