辽宁科技大学是省属本科高校，始建于1948年，时为鞍山新华中学专科部，1949年组建鞍山工业专门学校，1950年改为东北工学院鞍山分院，1958年升格为本科层次的鞍山钢铁学院，1998年由冶金工业部划转为辽宁省政府，实行中央和地方共建、以辽宁省管理为主的体制。经教育部批准，2002年更名为鞍山科技大学，2006年更名为辽宁科技大学。建校76年来，学校已发展成为以工学为主，理学、文学、经济学、管理学、法学、艺术学等学科协调发展的多科性大学。

Liaoning University of Science and Technology is a provincial undergraduate university, founded in 1948 as the Junior College Department of Anshan Xinhua Middle School. In 1949, it was reorganized into Anshan Industrial Specialized School, and in 1950, it was renamed Anshan Branch of Northeast Institute of Technology. In 1958, it was upgraded to Anshan Iron and Steel Institute at the undergraduate level. In 1998, it was transferred from the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry to the Liaoning Provincial Government, implementing a system of joint construction by the central and local governments, with Liaoning Province as the main administrator. Approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Anshan University of Science and Technology in 2002 and Liaoning University of Science and Technology in 2006. Over the 76 years since its establishment, the university has developed into a multidisciplinary university with engineering as the main focus, coordinated development of science, literature, economics, management, law, art and other disciplines.

学校坚持创新为先、质量立校、人才强校、特色兴校办学理念，逐步形成坚持既为冶金行业服务，又为辽宁地方及区域经济社会发展服务的办学定位，打造出“立足冶金，校企合作，注重实践，培养踏实肯干、适应发展的应用型高级专门人才”的办学特色。学校坐落在祖国钢都辽宁省鞍山市，占地面积约2763亩，建筑面积58万平方米。设有学院19个、教学部1个和工程训练中心1个，共办本科专业66个。具有学士、硕士、博士三级学位授予权，有一级学科博士点3个、一级学科硕士点12个、专业学位硕士点8个、博士后科研流动站1个。现有全日制学生23815人，其中本科生20483人，全日制硕士生2997人，博士生233人，留学生102人。

Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "innovation first, quality-based school, talent-strengthening school, and characteristic school development", the university has gradually formed a school-running orientation of serving both the metallurgical industry and the economic and social development of Liaoning and regional areas, creating a school-running characteristic of "based on metallurgy, school-enterprise cooperation, focusing on practice, and cultivating down-to-earth, adaptable and developing applied senior professionals". The university is located in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, the steel capital of China, covering an area of about 2763 mu and a building area of 580,000 square meters. It has 19 colleges, 1 teaching department and 1 engineering training center, offering 66 undergraduate majors. It has the right to grant bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, with 3 first-class discipline doctoral programs, 12 first-class discipline master's programs, 8 professional master's programs, and 1 post-doctoral research mobile station. There are 23,815 full-time students, including 20,483 undergraduates, 2,997 full-time postgraduates, 233 doctoral students and 102 international students.
