武汉交通职业学院办学始于1953年，2003年由交通运输部直属的武汉交通管理干部学院、武汉水运工业学校合并组建而成，隶属于湖北省教育厅。2010年，教育厅、交通运输部长江航务管理局签订协议，共建武汉交通职业学院。学校位于湖北省武汉市洪山区黄家湖西路6号，占地面积1003亩，建筑面积40.885万平方米，固定资产9.3亿元，教学设备1.746亿元，图书馆总面积0.63万平方米，图书总量达140.9万册，中外文数据库137个。

Wuhan Technical College of Communications was founded in 1953 and was established in 2003 through the merger of Wuhan Traffic Management Cadre College and Wuhan Water Transport Industry School, which were directly under the Ministry of Transport. It is affiliated to the Hubei Provincial Department of Education. In 2010, the Department of Education and the Yangtze River Administration of Transport of the Ministry of Transport signed an agreement to jointly build Wuhan Technical College of Communications. The school is located at No. 6 Huangjiahu West Road, Hongshan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, covering an area of 1003 mu, with a building area of 408,850 square meters, fixed assets of 930 million yuan, teaching equipment of 174.6 million yuan, a total library area of 6,300 square meters, a total of 1.409 million books, and 137 Chinese and foreign databases.

学校现有在校生18000余人，教职工792人，其中专任教师730人。学校教师获全国优秀教师等国家级荣誉称号6人、入选省级以上人才计划43人。学校始终围绕交通运输行业办学，秉承“自强不息、明志高远”的校训，以“奋斗、开拓、执着、担当、包容、奉献”的水韵精神为引领，坚持“立足交通、面向湖北，服务需求、育训并举”的办学思路，践行“以学生为中心，以教师为根本，以质量求生存，以贡献求发展”办学理念，彰显“长江魂、水运根，胸怀天下交通人”办学特色，为国家交通事业和湖北经济社会发展输送了十六万余名交通管理干部和技术技能型人才。

The school currently has more than 18,000 students and 792 faculty members, including 730 full-time teachers. The school's teachers have won 6 national honorary titles such as National Excellent Teachers and 43 have been selected into talent programs at or above the provincial level.
