武汉工程大学是一所以工为主，覆盖工、理、管、经、文、法、艺术、医学、教育学等九大学科门类的多科性教学研究型大学，是湖北省重点建设高校、湖北省国内一流学科建设高校，入选国家“中西部高校基础能力建设工程”“卓越工程师教育培养计划”“新工科研究与实践项目”等。学校创建于1972年6月，原名湖北化工石油学院，1980年3月更名为武汉化工学院，2006年2月更名为武汉工程大学。

Wuhan Institute of Technology is a multidisciplinary teaching and research university focusing on engineering, covering nine disciplines including engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law, art, medicine, and education. It is a key construction university in Hubei Province, a domestic first-class discipline construction university in Hubei Province, and has been selected into the National "Midwest University Basic Capacity Construction Project", "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", "New Engineering Research and Practice Project", etc. The university was founded in June 1972, originally named Hubei Institute of Chemical Technology and Petroleum, renamed Wuhan Institute of Chemical Technology in March 1980, and renamed Wuhan Institute of Technology in February 2006.

学校现有武昌和流芳两个校区，占地约130.9万平方米，校舍建筑面积96.6万平方米。设有20个学院（部）、69个本科专业，拥有2个一级学科博士学位授权点、23个一级学科硕士学位授权点、15个硕士专业学位授权类别。学校面向全国31个省、自治区、直辖市招生，全日制在校生25000余人，其中研究生5000余人。

The university currently has two campuses, Wuchang and Liufang, covering an area of approximately 1.309 million square meters, with a building area of 966,000 square meters. It has 20 colleges (departments), 69 undergraduate majors, 2 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 23 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and 15 master's professional degree authorization categories. The university enrolls students from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government, with more than 25,000 full-time students, including more than 5,000 graduate students.

学校坚持以人才培养为中心，深化教育教学改革，着力培养高素质创新型人才。近年来，获国家级教学成果奖2项，省级教学成果奖40余项；建有国家级一流本科专业建设点28个、国家级特色专业4个、教育部卓越工程师教育培养计划试点专业6个；拥有国家级实验教学示范中心1个、国家级虚拟仿真实验教学中心1个、国家级工程实践教育中心3个。

The university adheres to talent cultivation as the center, deepens education and teaching reform, and strives to cultivate high-quality innovative talents. In recent years, it has won 2 national teaching achievement awards and more than 40 provincial teaching achievement awards; built 28 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 4 national characteristic majors, and 6 pilot majors of the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan; and has 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, and 3 national engineering practice education centers.

学校高度重视科学研究和社会服务，拥有多个国家级和省部级科研平台，在化工、材料、环境、机械、信息等领域形成了鲜明的特色和优势。近五年，承担国家重点研发计划、国家自然科学基金、国家社会科学基金等国家级项目200余项，省部级项目400余项；获国家科技进步奖、国家技术发明奖等国家级奖励5项，省部级奖励80余项；发表高水平学术论文3000余篇，授权发明专利1000余件。

The university attaches great importance to scientific research and social services, has multiple national and provincial-level scientific research platforms, and has formed distinct characteristics and advantages in the fields of chemical engineering, materials, environment, machinery, information, etc. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 200 national-level projects such as the National Key R&D Program, National Natural Science Foundation, and National Social Science Foundation, and more than 400 provincial-level projects; won 5 national awards such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award and National Technology Invention Award, and more than 80 provincial-level awards; published more than 3,000 high-level academic papers and authorized more than 1,000 invention patents.
