渭南师范学院是一所以教师教育为主要特色的多科性应用型地方高校。1960年，陕西省人民政府批准成立渭南师范学院，1963年因经济困难建制撤销，变更为渭南地区教师培训机构。1978年，在该培训机构基础上成立陕西师范大学渭南专修科，同年，经国务院批准，以专修科为基础成立渭南师范专科学校。1983年，陕西省人民政府批准成立以教师培训为主的渭南教育学院。2000年，经教育部批准，渭南师范专科学校与渭南教育学院合并成立了本科层次的渭南师范学院。

Weinan Normal University is a multi-disciplinary application-oriented local university with teacher education as its main feature. In 1960, the People's Government of Shaanxi Province approved the establishment of Weinan Normal College. In 1963, due to economic difficulties, the establishment was revoked and changed to a teacher training institution in Weinan area. In 1978, on the basis of this training institution, the Weinan Specialized Department of Shaanxi Normal University was established. In the same year, with the approval of the State Council, Weinan Teachers College was established on the basis of the specialized department. In 1983, the People's Government of Shaanxi Province approved the establishment of Weinan Institute of Education, which mainly focuses on teacher training. In 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Weinan Teachers College and Weinan Institute of Education merged to form Weinan Normal University at the undergraduate level.

学校地处革命老区陕西渭南，现有朝阳、富平、西岳、汉马四个校区。被列为陕西省新增硕士学位授予单位立项建设高校，建有省级研究生联合培养示范工作站3个，与陕西理工大学、延安大学联合培养硕士研究生。建有15个二级学院和国际教育学院、继续教育学院，其中莫斯科艺术学院为中外合作办学机构。现有55个本科专业，涵盖教育学、文学、理学、艺术学等十大学科门类。面向全国招生，全日制在校本科生1.9万余人。

The university is located in Weinan, Shaanxi, an old revolutionary base area. It has four campuses: Chaoyang, Fuping, Xiyue and Hanma. It has been listed as a university for the project construction of新增 master's degree awarding units in Shaanxi Province. It has 3 provincial-level demonstration workstations for joint postgraduate training, and jointly cultivates master's degree students with Shaanxi University of Technology and Yan'an University. It has 15 secondary colleges, International Education College and Continuing Education College, among which Moscow College of Arts is a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution. At present, there are 55 undergraduate majors covering ten disciplines such as education, literature, science and art. Enrolling students from all over the country, there are more than 19,000 full-time undergraduates.

学校彰显师范办学特色，成功获批教育部师范教育协同提质计划重点支持院校，是陕西省唯一获批院校。六十多年来，先后为国家培养了10万余名毕业生，涌现出一批扎实肯干、勤奋有为的国家“万人计划”人才、科技创业领军人才、全国模范教师、全国优秀教师、全国五一劳动奖章、全国离退休干部先进个人获得者。
