武汉理工大学是中华人民共和国教育部直属全国重点大学，首批国家“双一流”建设高校，“211工程”“985工程优势学科创新平台”重点建设高校，入选国家“111计划”“卓越工程师教育培养计划”等，是教育部和交通运输部等部委共建高校。学校以材料科学与工程、船舶与海洋工程等学科为特色，形成了以工学为主，理、工、经、管、艺术、文、法等多学科协调发展的学科专业体系。

Wuhan University of Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, a first-class university under the national "Double First-Class" initiative, and a key university under the "211 Project" and "985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform". It has been selected into the national "111 Plan" and "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", and is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Transport and other ministries.

学校拥有武汉马房山校区、余家头校区和东湖校区，占地4000余亩，校舍总建筑面积195余万平方米。学校现有教职工5800余人，其中中国科学院院士、中国工程院院士（含双聘）19人，国家杰出青年科学基金获得者等国家级人才200余人。学校在材料科学、工程学、化学、物理等学科领域进入ESI全球前1%，其中材料科学学科进入ESI全球前1‰。

The university has three campuses: Mafangshan, Yujiaotou, and East Lake in Wuhan, covering an area of more than 4,000 mu, with a total building area of over 1.95 million square meters. It has more than 5,800 faculty members, including 19 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering (including double-appointed academicians), and over 200 national-level talents such as winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. The university's disciplines of materials science, engineering, chemistry, and physics have entered the top 1% of ESI globally, with materials science entering the top 1‰ of ESI globally.
