梧州学院的前身是创办于1985年的广西大学梧州分校。2003年10月，原梧州市教育学院、原梧州师范学校并入广西大学梧州分校。2006年2月，教育部批准在广西大学梧州分校的基础上建立梧州学院，该校是一所由自治区人民政府举办的多科性公办普通本科院校。

The predecessor of Wuzhou University was the Wuzhou Branch of Guangxi University, founded in 1985. In October 2003, the former Wuzhou Institute of Education and the former Wuzhou Normal School were merged into the Wuzhou Branch of Guangxi University. In February 2006, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Wuzhou University was established on the basis of the Wuzhou Branch of Guangxi University, which is a multi-disciplinary public ordinary undergraduate university run by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region.

梧州学院地处素有“千年古城、百年商埠、世界人工宝石之都”美誉的广西梧州市，校园坐落于桂江西畔，依山傍水，景色宜人。学校设立有13个教学单位，面向全国29个省、自治区和直辖市招生，现有全日制在校生19214人，专任教师1148人。

Wuzhou University is located in Wuzhou City, Guangxi, which is known as "a thousand-year-old city, a hundred-year-old commercial port, and the capital of artificial gems in the world". The campus is located on the west bank of the Gui River, surrounded by mountains and rivers with pleasant scenery. The university has 13 teaching units, enrolling students from 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government across the country, with 19,214 full-time students and 1,148 full-time teachers.

学校学科专业特色明显，信息与通信工程是广西一流学科（B类），电子信息工程是国家一流本科专业建设点，拥有六堡茶现代产业学院、宝石现代产业学院等广西普通本科高校示范性现代产业学院。办学定位为建成区域特色鲜明的高水平应用型大学，培养适应社会需要、富有实干精神和较强创新意识的应用型人才。

The university has distinct disciplinary and professional characteristics. Information and Communication Engineering is a first-class discipline in Guangxi (Class B), and Electronic Information Engineering is a national first-class undergraduate major construction site. It has demonstration modern industrial colleges for ordinary undergraduate universities in Guangxi, such as the Liubao Tea Modern Industry College and the Gem Modern Industry College. The school-running orientation is to build a high-level application-oriented university with distinct regional characteristics, cultivating application-oriented talents who meet social needs, are full of practical spirit and have strong innovative awareness.
